The last room was just reserved at one of the main motels. I belive this is an excellent indicator of attendance.
We have the "semi" full of kart driving down fm MI (same group took karts to the CA event!) Again, good indicator of interest/attendance.
Registration is slow, but that is typical: people want to be sure of the weather/home situation.
I have been doing a lot of grass roots work with people to get them here. It is working! And I am having them bring other racers/spectators
I will be there bright and early 3/25/10 and am staying in Barnesville through Sat when we wrap everything up.
I plan to do more meet-and-greet and less racing: I believe this is important for the success of the event, and our future vintage events.
As some of you may (or may not know) I was in medical Sales for 15 years (Siemens Medical: hearing aids) and I have a big sales/marketing slant to my approach to everything (including my Emory patients) We (SIEMENS) would take customers all over the world, and I would help behind the scenes taking care of things (unhappy customers, etc). I am bringing this to karting: both vintage and modern
I believe and others do that vintage karting is a growth sport, like clones are to modern karting: It is cheap to get a vintage kart, restore it and race it as compared to other vintage vehicles (cars/bikes) it is affordable
The demographics of vintage karting is; older karters (50's and up) with reduced financial obligations, time available, money available, often retired/semi retired, remembering the days of karting, getting the karts they wanted/raced/raced against when they are younger (Hey, that describes ME!)
The advantage for us (GSKA): mayvbe we can make some money on this to help with our regular karting season.
I am trying to recruit as many Barnesville people to come see and help out: I want it to be a very visitor friendlly event (It always it-we hae great GSKA people)
some thoughts as I spit/polish/fabricate/prep karts for the vintage event.
This is gonna be BIG!

| I would love to see an old LAMAR COUNTY RACEWAY sign by the road. Even if it is ,placed over the black hills circuit sign......Anyone who could donate signs for the day, promoting old karts etc.. would be great.. |

That Black Hills Circuit sign is out of date anyway.
It will always be LCR to me. _________________ Kerry Wilson

I am more than happy to help out. Be advised, someone,(the track owner) will have to get a new sign permitted before I can do anything permanent. A weekend banner however, could be grey area, OK. _________________ Mr. Sideways |
